Thanks for visiting my online shop. My name is Glenn, I've been crafting with leather since 2010 and I'm proud to say that there's still a lot of my work out there still being used from those early years. I spent most of my free college nights making leather goods before eventually putting the craft aside as a main focus and instead relegating it to a hobby.
I'd continue to put out a few pieces per year with the hand tools and materials I still had kicking around. That's one of the great things about leathercrafting, it can be fairly compact at the hobby level.
Greylock was started in the early months of 2020, first as a way to pass time and then as a realization that after a few years apart from crafting regularly, I was looking at it with a much fresher set of eyes and greater experience in practicality and function. Slowly I started to build my collection up, working with some of the best local and global suppliers to source really exceptional stuff to work with. I have a passion for really beautiful material, and I try to highlight that in every piece I make.
Since starting on the floor of my living room, then slowly overtaking my spare bedroom that was once shared as an office with my fiance, I've had the opportunity to expand to a dedicated space down in Pawtucket to craft my bags. This space has really allowed me to flourish as a craftsman, I've been adding machinery and stocking up on great hides to work with.
Now, as of 2023, Greylock is located in the old Winslow and Smith tannery complex, now known as the Winsmith Mill Market in Norwood MA. It's a little twist of irony that this old leather processing is now the home of a dedicated leather shop once more. This new workshop has 1000sqft of production, retail and photography space that will help to grow my craft and brand.
Find me at a local craft fair in Boston, or schedule a time to come visit my new space.
I hope you'll choose to add one of my pieces to your collection, they're truly beautiful and long lasting pieces of wearable art that you'll cherish for years to come.
The name Greylock is taken from Mount Greylock in Adams, MA. Greylock is the highest natural point in Massachusetts, and it's where I proposed to my long time partner on a slippery, ice covered November afternoon (she said yes!). She had been hounding me to get back into crafting for years, knowing how happy it made me. I can thank her for having this brand today.
It seems appropriate that after mulling about the name, that this would become the name of the brand. Greylock also has long been a source of inspiration for artists, writers, and before then, native peoples who lived in the western hills of Massachusetts. The mountain itself is said to be named after Chief Gray Lock, a prominent Abenaki warrior who lived in the early 18th century.
